The Power of A Snap Decision

Snap decisions can be used to your advantage. Really. It's incredible. You'll change one day, and never look back. Ever.

Sometimes, it isn't enough to slowly transition out of a bad habit. It will only make the process more unbearable. You'll realize all that you are losing from the old lifestyle while you are progressing towards a new one. For example, I jumped from being an avid meat-eater, to being a vegan in one night. It's been a year and a half, and I haven't looked back. Snap decisions can be fun. Because you won't be able to focus on what you can't eat or can't do any longer. You'll only be able to see a whole new world of options you never found the time to consider before.

Before you shake your head and call me crazy, I must emphasize that you HAVE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH. Just because you're making a snap decision, doesn't mean you forgo intense investigation of the circumstance. If you're going to commit to exercising 4 times a week for the rest of your life, then you must do research, outlining, and come up with a plan. Where will you exercise? What will you do during vacation time? You must know how to combat your obstacles and setbacks before they even happen. That's what makes a snap decision so strong. You won't look back if you can see where you're going.

What's one thing that you've been struggling to achieve recently? What's one thing that you've been trying and failing to complete? Maybe you've been slowly attempting to transition out of boy-crazyness. There are times when you need to be radical in order to accomplish something good for yourself.

What To Watch Out For

If you do decide to get a little extreme (like stop crushing on guys for six months and focus on yourself), then you need to be aware of some things. When you start to do things that are of higher quality--eating better foods and eliminating all of the toxins from your life--you'll become to notice a negative reaction coming from your heart, mind, and body. This is the initial phase of detox. It's what makes or breaks a snap decision.

The symptoms of all detoxes are: mood swings (a lot of emotional highs and lows), sadness, euphoria, questioning whether you made the right decision, cravings for how easy your life was before you made the change .... etc...

You must make it past these symptoms. Give your brain some time to adjust. Find a source of inspiration and strength, and stick to it. The phase of detox always passes. Always. But, most people don't make it past that point. Most people don't change for better. And that's the sad truth. Give snap decisions a try. Even if you get  somewhat extreme, somewhere in there is a healthy medium (read ME).
