The Power of "Girl Talk"

Have you ever had a "girl talk" before? I'm not referring to those 15 minute phone conversations where you talk about your crushes. I'm referring to deep, heartfelt conversations that go into the long hours of the night. There is so much power of shared knowledge being passed along during these talks. And I don't want you to take them for granted.

How My Friends And I Talk

Remember reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? They have rules--and an overall ritual to fulfill. It's quite the same with my friends. Here are the general guidelines:

1. Lights must be off. Sometimes you share personal stuff, and it's easiest when you can't see anybody judging you.

2. Don't make eye contact with each other. For the reason listed in #1.

3. No judgment. This one's tricky. If your friend admits to something dangerous, don't you want to snap her out of it? Well, that depends on the situation. Please look at Three Dimensions (right HERE) and that post should explain what to do under that particular circumstance.

4. Jokes are encouraged. You have to always be yourself. Lighten the mood! Make fun of each other when it's appropriate.

Now, these "rules" are usually unspoken, however they are ALWAYS carried out. There is an understanding that these things must happen in order to reach somewhere positive. We all want to find that an aspect of our belief system has been altered by the end of the night. By the end of a girl talk, you are a whole new person who has a lot to think about.

I've written a lot of things that are taken verbatim from girl talks.
Posts specifically inspired and created by girl talks:

And A LOT more! I honestly cannot list them all. But the above are the best examples of ideas that came from two or more girls talking about their lives.

See? They're amazing! Never take your closest friends for granted.

Love,

Zabrinah
