Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

*Hey! Check your browser and make sure it says www.zabrinah.com!*

Zabrinah,

Since you’re so good with this “love” stuff, can you tell me why I keep dreaming that this guy I’m dating is gay? Well, I’ve only had 2 dates with him, but he seems into me. Lol.

Thanks,

The Original Swedish Blonde!

Hey, thanks for commenting and asking a question!! I LOVE when people do that!

Let’s start. I’m not a dream interpreter, but I do know what it’s like to dream about a guy I like.

On one hand, we’re going to analyze why you dreamed about him being gay when he’s supposed to be liking you, and on the other hand, we’re not going to give too much weight to the dreams because if all dreams were derived from the truth, a good chunk of us would be running from the FBI, failing at school/work, and getting into all sorts of shenanigans that would make us look crazy.

Some questions to ask yourself:

1. Are you at all insecure about the relationship? Do you have any worries or anxieties about it? It’s only been two dates for you, but I’ve been in situations where I over-anticipated before he even knew my name. By the time the guy actually gets to liking you, there’s too much expectation, eagerness, and too much build up.

2. Have you ever dated or even liked a guy who turned out to be gay before? I had to ask. Because your subconscious mind could be secretly worried about this and running with that.

Here’s what I think is actually happening. These dreams come out of nowhere and catch you off guard. And because they’re so shocking, you give them some importance. Whenever he drifts into your mind, instead of daydreaming about the two of you together, you sit back for a second and wonder, “Wait. Is he gay? Am I missing something?” And when you’re with him, you watch him a little more carefully. Just to make sure that you didn’t miss something extremely obvious because that would be embarrassing and it would mean that you didn’t have any intuition into these things (because a lot of girls think they can just tell, which honestly is not always the case. We think we know all the time, but we still get caught off guard. It happens to all of us).

Quite often, we dream about the guys in our lives. Many of these dreams include him not being in love with us anymore. If this guy in your life turned out to be gay for real, that would mean he didn’t like you in the same way that you’re starting to like him, which would hurt because we all shy away from rejection. So, maybe you need to see the dreams as what they are. Regardless of how you feel about him right now, you don’t want to get hurt in the future. You don’t want to be rejected. Having someone like you one day, and then in an instant, decide that they don’t like you anymore is what your subconscious is afraid of. The dreams are possibly voicing a fear. This is just your mind reminding your heart to be attentive. Don’t fall too quickly, or place yourself in too vulnerable of a position at the beginning of this relationship.

When rejection does occur, we tend to blame ourselves, trying to find out what we did wrong and when we did it. It seems like your subconscious mind might be getting ahead of itself. Don’t expect that blame. Enjoy the relationship while nothing’s going wrong!

Just last night, I had a dream that was placed ten years into the future, and I saw one of my good friends there. In the dream, I hadn’t seen her in years. So, I got really excited, called her name, and ran to her. But, when I tried to hug her, she said, “Please don’t hug me.” She shut me down. In public. I was so embarrassed. And now that I’m analyzing this dream, I realize that there are times when I’m very insecure about our friendship for reasons beyond my control, like she lives far away now and she’s making new friends. I believe that this is a case of my insecurities translating into my dreams. What my subconscious mind comes up with doesn’t relate to reality, but in a way, it does. It’s confusing, but the dream only reflected me and my feelings, not the person I was dreaming about.

Dreams are reflections of the world from your perspective. You color your dreams with your feelings, your thoughts, your passions, your insecurities, your fears, and your emotions. It’s best to remember that it’s all about you. That way, we give these dreams the right amount of importance.

Hope this helped!

Love,

Zabrinah

  7. Zabrinah you're a doll :)

Thank you soooo much for answering my question. I already feel much better. I think this specific dream had to do with a past experience, not that the guy was gay...but you know hoping, dreaming that I was going to live happily ever after...young naive girl thinking. "lol"

    Your blog is AWESOME. :)
