Redirection

So you’ve got a daydreaming problem where your mind just drifts away—to him—when you should be paying attention to something else. Sure, it’s fun, but it’s not healthy because it shows the qualities of a Level 3 (see earlier post on LOVE Him. HATE Him. for the full scale). You want to be a Level 1 if you don’t want to fall in love.

But being a 1 is easier said than done. You’ll soon notice that when you’re talking to your friends, you’ll tell them you’re a 1 in a surge of denial, when you’re at least a 1.5, or even a 2.

I’m daydreaming like crazy. How can I get to be a 1?

Well, it’s good that you admitted it to yourself. The next step is mind redirection. You need to have specific subjects/topics to ponder when you’re bored or directly after you notice you’re daydreaming. Maybe it’s one of your favorite scriptures (but make it a long one with a lot of meat to it). Or perhaps it’s something fascinating—anything that really gets you thinking.

Still daydreaming? I would suggest reading some non-fiction. It’s extremely difficult to daydream when you’re reading and steadily focusing on financial investing, how to make friends and influence people, or the reasons why he’s not into you. Books concerning these topics still grab and hold your attention while stopping those pesky daydreams in their tracks.

When your mind starts to wander to him, try to redirect it towards a more productive, healthier train of thought. That is key to being a 1 because when you don’t dislike someone, they tend to hold less significance in your life. Let him slip your mind, not engage it in a daydream of epic proportions.

Love,

Zabrinah
