His Point-Of-View

Here’s an exercise that will change your life. I’ll show it to you with two reports of the same day.

Your Point-Of-View (you on the phone with your friend):

FRIEND: How was your day?

YOU: So, I was leaving work today. He was standing there with a bunch of his friends outside the building. He was wearing a really nice shirt that matched his eyes. Not the striped one, but the one with the funny collar and the gray tie. Anyway, I started to approach them and I swear he looked at me. For a long time. I didn’t know what to do, so I waved. And he didn’t wave back. At all.

FRIEND: Jerk.

YOU: I know, right? I felt so embarrassed. I had to get him back. So, I went up to one of his good friends and talked to him for a long time. I think it worked because all of a sudden, he told everyone he had to go.

FRIEND: Yeah, he got jealous.

YOU: I’m mad at him. He blatantly didn’t wave back. I’ll ignore him tomorrow. See how he likes that.

FRIEND: You go, girl!

His Point-Of-View (him on the phone with his friend):

FRIEND: How was your day?

HIM: Fine. Work was okay. I got some pizza afterwards. It was good.

The End.

Do you see? You cannot blow things out of proportion. You should not think about him 10 times more than he thinks about you. If he thinks about you. Getting “mad” at him for no reason is pointless and childish. All the times I’ve ignored a guy to get back at him have only ended in embarrassment. I don’t want the same for you.

Every time you’re tempted to read into his actions, remember his point-of-view. If you must, ask yourself what he’d tell his friend about his day. Would you even be mentioned? This exercise will keep you grounded and sane when all you want to do is over-analyze.

Love,

Zabrinah

  1. Wonderful advice, Zabrinah. So often the dude has absolutely NO point of view, but we drive ourselves bonkers over the meaning of his every subtle gesture.

Thanks for commenting and following me. I'm so glad to do the same. This will surely be fun!
    Cheers,

  5. I totally agree!!! I think life is really what you make of it/how you see it!

And speaking about that exercise, before I go to bed, sometimes my mom and I ask each other "what are you thankful for today?" It's such a nice way to end your day! And like the song goes, when you can't fall asleep, count your blessings! :)

Thanks for the comment and follow! I'll be followin you too. ;) And yes, I do enjoy photography! I haven't had enough time - nor a fancy camera - to do photography very seriously, but I wish I could! It's great "meeting" you! :)

    G'bless ya!,
    Erin :)
